Sports Professionals are a global cultural mainstay and a medium that cuts across language barriers. At the fourth annual Maryland Sports Business Conference on Friday, April 12, a number of CEOs discussed how they plan to capitalize on the potential for leagues and franchises to grow their sport wherever there are sports fans.

This year’s conference covered subjects like the evolution of fan engagement, the effect of name, image, and likeness opportunities on collegiate sports, and the future of youth sports. It was organized by the Sports Business Society at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School.

At the conference, which took place at Gossett Hall, a panel discussion regarding the globalization of sports was held. Rich O’Reilly, content and marketing manager at FC Bayern Munich; Christian Henze, chief strategy officer at Premier Lacrosse League. Doron Tamari ’11, director of international marketing and innovation at BSE Global; and Sarah Hollis. chief marketing and revenue officer at USA Track and Field (USATF), were on the panel, which was moderated by John Ourand of Sports Professionals Puck News.
