In a recent interview with the news agency PTI, Rajkumar Hirani stated, “I try not to focus on financial success because the moment you do, you start coloring the kind of film you want to make… Of course, it counts to me.Making a film takes me three or four years. I took five years to write a narrative this time. It need to be along the lines of, “Let me make this film, whatever the outcome is.” There are instances when your audience will be global, and instances when it will be more localized. Given the size of India, a wide range of people would enjoy a wide variety of films.”
